Rules

The 4th Annual TheClevelandFan.com Golf Outing will be played as a four man scramble.

All four players, in any order they like, all tee off, from white tees.  Women tee off from the red tees.  The group then selects the best drive of the four, and all four players will play their second shot from that spot.  The ball must be dropped within one club length of the best drive and no closer to the hole.  Also, all shots must be played from the same terrain as the selected shot.  For example, you can't drop a ball two feet behind the selected shot to go from the rough to the fairway.  This process is repeated until the ball is on the green, at which point all players will putt from the spot of the selected shot.

Once the putt is dropped, the score is recorded, and the players move on to the next hole, repeating the scramble process.

One gimmick in this event, which is otherwise a standard scramble - All teams must use at least three tee shots from each player
.

All teams should keep official scorecards, notating with an asterisk whose tee shot was used on which hole.  The lowest team score wins the event.  Plaques and prizes will be given to the winning team, as well as the individual golfers that win the long drive contest on #10, and the closest shots to the pin on the five par threes (holes 2, 4, 6, 12, and 14).

The event will begin at 1:30 PM and will be a shotgun start, which means all teams will tee off at the same time.  Each group will be assigned a starting hole.  If it is hole #4, you will finish on the 3rd hole, playing the holes of the course in order until you get back to where you started from.

We will also be doing an optional skins game.  $40 per foursome.  Skins will be awarded on any holes where one participating foursome records a lower score than all other foursomes that enter the skins game.  If 25 foursomes play, there will be $1,000 in the pot.  If two skins are won, each skin pays out $500.  If four skins are won, each skin pays out $250.  There are no hole carryovers.  All skins pay equal.  Most likely, there will only be a couple.  Eagles on tough par fives, if someone chips in for a two on a par four, potentially even a birdie on a really tough par 3 or par 4.  In 2008, just one skin was won, on hole three.  All 94 players got in the skins, so the winning team of Mike Figlioli, John Orrechio, Dan Matteo, and George Persiano split $940.  2009, there were five skins won, and each paid close to $200.  Last year there were four skins won, and each paid $250.

NOTE - This scramble and all contests associated with it are played on the honors system.  Please adhere to the rules and be true to the scorecard.  There are no mulligans.  And please play all shots on the correct terrain and play all shots from within one club length of the chosen shot, and no closer to the hole than the original ball.
